Effect of project planning practices on performance of projects download PDF

Project planning practices affect project performance in terms of cost, schedule, quality, and time of delivery. Specifically, effective project planning can lead to improved efficiency, effectiveness, strategic goal setting, and organizational learning. It also helps to reduce wastage during the project execution phase. Effective project planning also contributes towards user satisfaction, personal development, professional learning, social development, and positive environmental impact.

The following are empirical studies conducted to explore the effect of project planning practices on project performance from various parts of the globe.

Impact of project planning and project risk management on project success: moderating the role of project managers’ competencies in the construction sector in Afghanistan

This study examined the impact of project planning and project risk management on project success in Pakistan. Specifically, the study addressed the following objectives: to establish the effect of project planning on project success; to determine the effect of project risk management on project success; to evaluate the effect of project managers’ competence on the relationship between project planning and project success; to explore the impact of project managers’ competence on the relationship between project risk management and project success (Fazly et al., 2024).

The target population included 300 private construction firms in Pakistan. Managers of these firms constituted the sample for the study. Data collection was done using a questionnaire. Project planning was measured using the model proposed by Demir (2008). Project risk management was measured using the model developed by Ling et al. (2008). Managers’ project competencies were evaluated using the model developed by Clarke (2010). Project success was determined using the model proposed by Harvett (2013). Descriptive statistics were used to analyze descriptive variables of the study. Correlation analysis was used to explore the relationship between the variables under study. Multiple regression analysis was used to establish the impact of the independent variables on the dependent variable. The results were presented in tables as deemed fit (Fazly et al., 2024).

Correlation analysis showed that the variables had a positive and significant association with one another. It was established that project planning, project risk management, and project managers’ competency had a positive and significant impact on project success. Moderated regression analysis was used to show the impact of the project managers’ competencies on the relationship between project planning and project success. According to the results, project managers’ competency was shown to have a positive and significant effect on the relationship between project planning and project success. Lastly, the results demonstrated that project managers’ competency had a positive and significant effect on the relationship between project risk management and project success (Fazly et al., 2024).

Examining the effect of project planning on megaproject performance: the conditional mediating role of integration

This study explored the impact of project planning on the performance of megaprojects in China. The objectives of the study included the following: to determine the effect of process and information integration on the relationship between project planning and the performance of megaprojects in China and to establish the effect of project complexity on the relationship between project planning and the performance of megaprojects in China. The target population included 214 megaprojects operating in China. Data analysis was done using descriptive statistics (frequency, percentage, and mean) and inferential analysis (regression analysis). Tables were used to present the findings accordingly (Lin et al., 2024).

The results showed that project planning had a positive impact on the performance of megaprojects in China. Project planning was also shown to have a positive impact on process integration. A combination of project planning and process integration had a positive impact on the performance of megaprojects in the study area. This means that process integration mediates the relationship between project planning and project performance. The results further showed that project complexity significantly weakens the relationship between project planning and process integration in megaprojects in the study area. This means that when project complexity is low, the positive relationship between project planning and process integration becomes stronger. It also means that when project complexity is low, the positive association between project planning and project performance becomes strong (Lin et al., 2024).

Effect of project planning practices on the performance of tourism projects: a case of Sabyinyo Community Livelihood Association, Kinigi Sector, Musanze District

This study explored the impact of project planning practices on the performance of tourism projects in Musanze District, Rwanda. Specifically, the study investigated the effect of scope of planning practice, cost planning practice, human resource planning practice, and risk planning practice on performance of projects in Musanze District. The target population included 145 individuals drawn from the district staff, sector staff, project staff, and SACOLA member representatives. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze descriptive variables. Pearson’s correlation analysis was done to evaluate the associations between study variables. Regression analysis was done to establish the effect of independent variables on the dependent variable (Habiyaremye & Sikubwabo, 2023).

The findings revealed that scope planning practices, cost planning practices, human resource planning practices, and risk planning practices had a positive and significant impact on project performance in the target organization. The findings of the regression model revealed that 72.6% variance in the dependent variable (project performance) was explained by the independent variables, that is, scope planning, cost planning, human resource planning, and risk planning (Habiyaremye & Sikubwabo, 2023).

The significance of planning and scheduling to the success of projects

This study explored the impact of planning on the success of projects in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. In particular, the study addressed the following objectives: to determine the significance of project planning on the success of projects in Addis Ababa; to find out the effect of project scheduling on project success; to establish the impact of project managers’ attitudes towards the effect of planning and scheduling on the success of projects; to determine the relationship between failing to plan and project failure; to identify the qualities of a successful project; and to establish whether the rate of project success increases with project planning (Ayele, 2023).

The target population included 138 staff members drawn from project teams in the target firms. Data collection was done using a questionnaire. Secondary data was collected from project reports, project track records, and project reviews. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including frequency, percentage, and mean. Tables were used to present the findings of the study (Ayele, 2023).

According to the results, respondents defined a successful project as one that meets client satisfaction and shows project efficiency. Most of the respondents also indicated that project planning increases the rate of project success. The findings also revealed that scheduling matters a lot when it comes to project execution. It was also demonstrated that project planning positively impacts project budget, project schedule, project scope, and project quality in the target firms (Ayele, 2023).

Impact of project planning practices on project performances: a case study of the Abadahigwa project funded by BDF in the Musanze District

This study explored the influence of project planning practices on the performance of the Abadahigwa project in Musanze District, Rwanda. In particular, the study pursued the following objectives: to determine the impact of human resource planning practices on the success of the Abadahigwa project; to establish the impact of financial resource planning practices on the success of the Abadahigwa project; to identify the outcomes of working capital management on the success of the Abadahigwa project; and to determine the moderating role of policy, regulations, and economic conditions on the relationship between project planning practices and project performance of the Abadahigwa project (Rukundo et al., 2022).

The target population included the 174 stakeholders of the Abadahigwa project. A sample size of 87 respondents was selected using random purposive sampling from the target population. Questionnaires were used to collect primary data from the respondents. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including frequencies, percentages, means, and deviations. The results were presented in relevant tables as deemed fit (Rukundo et al., 2022).

The findings revealed that human resource planning had a positive and significant impact on quality service delivery in the Abadahigwa project. In addition, the results showed that human resource planning explained 5% variance in the delivery of quality service in the Abadahigwa project. The results also indicated that financial resource planning had a positive and significant impact on delivery of quality service in the Abadahigwa project. Furthermore, the results demonstrated that financial resource planning explained 6% of the variance in quality service delivery in the Abadahigwa project. In addition, the findings revealed that working capital management had a negative but significant impact on quality service delivery in the Abadahigwa project. It was also shown that working capital management explained 11.3% variance in quality service delivery in the Abadahigwa project. Finally, the findings indicated that policy, regulations, and economic conditions had a positive and significant impact on quality service delivery in the Abadahigwa project. Further, the results showed that policy, regulations, and economic conditions explained 11% of the variance in quality service delivery in the Abadahigwa project. Finally, it was shown that project planning had a positive and significant impact on quality service delivery in the Abadahigwa project. Also, project planning was shown to explain 8% variance in project performance in the Abadahigwa project (Rukundo et al., 2022).

Effect of project planning practices on improving project performance in Rwanda. A case of the Huguka Dukore Akazi Kanoze project in Nyabihu District

This study explores the effect of project planning practices on improving the performance of projects in Rwanda. In particular, the study sought to determine the impact of project scope planning, project cost planning, and project human resource planning on project performance in the target organization.  The target population included 123 respondents drawn from project staff members, staff in the business development and employment promotion in the target district, and beneficiaries of the project activities. Data collection was done using a questionnaire. Descriptive statistics were used for analyzing descriptive statistics. Pearson correlation analysis was done to establish the correlation among the study variables. The findings were presented in suitable tables as required (Mukeshimana et al., 2022).

The findings showed that project scope planning had a strong positive and significant relationship with project performance in the target organization. In addition, the results indicated that project cost planning had a strong positive and significant impact on project performance in the target organization. Lastly, the results demonstrated that the project’s human resource planning had a strong positive and significant impact on project performance in the target project (Mukeshimana et al., 2022).

Influence of planning practices on project success: the case of an education project implemented by True Vineyard Ministry Rwanda in Musanze District

The study investigated the impact of project planning practices on the success of education projects in Musanze District, Rwanda. Specifically, the study sought to achieve two objectives: to determine the effect of risk management planning practices on project success and to establish the impact of financial resource planning practices on project success in education projects in Musanze District, Rwanda. The target population included 355 respondents drawn from the True Vineyard Ministry and other stakeholders. A sample size of 121 was selected using a purposive sampling approach (Sebasore & Dushimimana, 2022).

Data collection was done using a questionnaire. The collected data was analyzed using descriptive statistics (frequencies, percentages) and inferential analysis (multiple regression analysis). The findings of the regression analysis revealed that risk management explained 8% variance in project sustainability. Thus, risk-management planning practices were shown to have a positive and significant impact on project sustainability. The findings also indicated that financial planning practices had a positive and significant impact on project sustainability. Specifically, it was shown that financial resource planning explained 3% variance in project sustainability (Sebasore & Dushimimana, 2022).

Influence of project planning practices on project success: a case of the ActionAid project on access to justice in Kenya

This study investigated the impact of project planning practices on the success of the Action Aid project on access to justice in Kenya. In particular, the study sought to achieve the following objectives: to find out the effect of resource mobilization practices on project success; to determine the effect of risk management practices on project success; and to establish the effect of stakeholder involvement practices on project success. The target population included 300 fulltime employees of Action AID Kenya. A sample size of 171 respondents was selected using the Yamane (1967) formula. Data collection was done using a questionnaire. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze descriptive variables of the study. Correlation analysis was used to establish the association among the variables under investigation. Inferential statistics were used to evaluate the impact of the independent variables on the dependent variable. The results were presented in suitable tables as required (Thotho, 2022).

The results of correlation analysis showed that resource mobilization practices had a positive association with project success. This means that resource mobilization practices had a positive and significant impact on project success. The findings of the regression analysis indicated that resource mobilization explained 49.9% of the variance in project success at the Action Aid Access to Justice Project in Kenya. The findings of correlation analysis further revealed that risk management practices had a positive association with project success. The results of regression analysis showed that risk management practice explained 30.8% variance in project success in the target organization. Lastly, the findings of correlation analysis indicated that stakeholder involvement had a positive association with project success. The results of regression analysis further showed that stakeholder involvement practices explained 30.3% of the variance in project success in the Action AID Access Project, Kenya (Thotho, 2022).

The relationship between project planning, risk management, and knowledge integration and project success

This study investigated the relationship between project planning, risk management, and knowledge management and the success of mega construction projects in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The target population included mega construction projects in operation in the kingdom of Bahrain. Respondents were selected from stakeholders involved in running the operations of the target megaconstruction projects. Data collection was done using a questionnaire. Data analysis was done using descriptive statistics. Pearson correlation was used to establish the association between study variables.  Regression analysis was used to establish the effect of the independent variables on the dependent variable. The findings were presented in suitable tables as required (Alchammari, 2021).

The findings of the correlation analysis indicated a positive association between project planning and project success. The results also showed a positive association between knowledge integration and project success. Further still, the findings indicated that risk management had a positive association with project success. The findings of regression analysis showed that project planning had a positive and significant impact on the success of mega construction projects in Bahrain. Knowledge integration was shown to have a positive and insignificant impact on the success of construction projects in Bahrain. On the other hand, risk management was shown to have a positive and significant impact on the success of mega construction projects in Bahrain (Alchammari, 2021).

Assessing the effect of strategic planning on the performance of construction projects: evidence from Nigeria

This study examined the effect of strategic planning on project performance in construction companies in Nigeria. The target population included construction companies operating in Nigeria. In this study, strategic planning was represented by three project management methods, including traditional project management (TPM), agile project management (APM), and hybrid project management (HPM). Specifically, the objectives of this study included establishing the extent to which the TPM approach affects quality standards of construction projects, determining the impact of APM on quality standards of construction projects, and finding out the relationship between the HPM approach and quality standards of construction projects in Nigeria (Ibrahim & Ibrahim, 2021).

The target population included construction companies operating in Nigeria. A purposive sampling technique was used to obtain a sample size of 100 staff members from the target companies to participate in the study. Descriptive statistics (frequencies, percentages, mean) were used to analyze descriptive variables of the study. The findings were presented in tables as deemed appropriate (Ibrahim & Ibrahim, 2021).

The findings revealed that, within the TPM approach, all project planning documentations required during the project initiation stage were properly done and presented to relevant stakeholders for scrutiny. The findings indicated that relevant stakeholders were involved in setting project objectives and were kept abreast of every development relating to the project. It was also established that stakeholders did not fully understand the risk and tradeoffs associated with the projects. Also, it was shown that the roles and responsibilities of each project member were not adequately defined. Furthermore, it was revealed that project needs were not clearly defined. The findings also indicated a lack of customer involvement in project management activities (Ibrahim & Ibrahim, 2021).

It was also shown that within the APM approach, project tasks were well defined and properly assigned during the project design and development phase. The results also showed that project tasks were achieved within the stipulated timeframes. However, it was shown that documentation of project achievements was poorly done. This method was also shown to give room for modifications. Also, the APM method was shown to give room for thorough quality assurance testing. In addition, this method was associated with a high level of team collaboration during the project development phases (Ibrahim & Ibrahim, 2021).

The findings showed that the HPM approach allowed for effective project execution. However, it was revealed that support and training were inadequate and untimely. It was also shown that proper project planning and execution could provide reliable reference points for future projects. It was also shown that this experience would lead to better management of future projects and enhanced performance (Ibrahim & Ibrahim, 2021).

Assessing the relationship between project planning effort and project success in the construction industry of Ghana

This study sought to determine the impact of project planning on project success in the Ghanaian construction industry. In particular, the study sought to determine the nature of project planning efforts currently in place in the Ghanaian construction industry; to examine factors inhibiting the contribution of project efforts to project success in the Ghanaian construction industry; and to investigate the contribution of project planning efforts towards project success in the Ghanaian construction industry (Rosemary et al., 2021).

The target population included two firms, that is, Incept Architectural Consult and Glenshire Hills Estate. The sample size was comprised of 134 respondents selected using the stratified sampling technique. Primary data collection was done using questionnaires. Secondary data was retrieved from company documents, company progress reports, company monitoring and evaluation reports, journal articles, website information, and the general Internet. Descriptive statistics were used to evaluate descriptive variables of the study. Inferential statistics, including Pearson r correlation and multiple regression analysis, were used to establish the correlations between the variables under investigation. The findings were presented using tables as required (Rosemary et al., 2021).

The findings revealed that both project managers and customers were moderately involved in the project planning process. However, the level of involvement of team members in the project planning stage was found to be high. This means that project managers and customers do not have adequate experience in the project planning process, and this state of affairs negatively impacts project success. The results also indicated that full project manager authority was granted by top management during the project planning process. The findings revealed that the project’s scope was adequately defined. It was also established that the organization kept records about previous projects on warehouses or buildings. This implies that the records were poorly kept. It was also revealed that respondents poorly used work breakdown structure during the project planning process (Rosemary et al., 2021).

The findings further indicated that the majority of project managers willingly arranged training sessions for project team members. Team members were also reported to focus most of their attention on their normal duties rather than planning tasks. Team members were also reported to seldom use project management software tools like Microsoft Project. The findings also established that project progress in the target firms was inadequate. This means that projects were not completed on schedule and within the allowed budget scope (Rosemary et al., 2021).

The results of the regression analysis process indicated that 35% of variance in project success was determined by project planning effort. The findings also showed that human factors had a positive and significant impact on project performance. Technological factors were also shown to have a positive and significant impact on project success. Management factors were also found to have a positive impact on project success in the target organizations. On the other hand, organizational structure was found to have a negative but insignificant impact on project success (Rosemary et al., 2021).

The results indicated the following as the main challenges of project planning effort: difficulties encountered in selecting a strategy that would guarantee the best value for project plans; risk factors associated with project planning; human factors; cost performance baseline; and unclear goals and objectives (Rosemary et al., 2021).

Role of project planning and project manager competencies on public sector project success

This study explored the impact of project planning and human resource competency on the success of public sector projects in Pakistan. Specifically, the study aimed at achieving the following objectives: to establish the effect of project planning on the success of public projects in Pakistan and to explore the effect of project manager competencies on the success of public projects in Pakistan. The target population included public projects in Pakistan. In light of this, mid-level managers from 4 major public works departments of Balochistan in Pakistan were targeted. These included the Balochistan Development Authority, Balochistan Irrigation Department, Balochistan Physical Planning and Housing Department, and Balochistan Communication Works. A sample size of 119 individuals was selected to participate in the study. Data collection was done using questionnaires. Descriptive statistics were used to process descriptive variables. Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) was used to evaluate the relationship among the study variables. The findings were presented in suitable tables as required (Irfan et al., 2021).

The findings revealed that project planning and project managers’ competency had a positive and significant impact on the success of projects in the target firms. In addition, the results of the regression model indicated that 56.6% of the variance in the success of projects in the target firms (Irfan et al., 2021).

The impact of planning on project success: a literature review

This study explored the impact of project planning on project success in various sectors, including software, production, government, communications, services, and construction and engineering. The study focused on secondary data derived from web searches as well as extensive Google Scholar searches, JSTOR, Business Sources Complete, and the Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (NDLTD). Accordingly, over 280 papers and books were reviewed, with 50 of them being cited in the current study (Sandesh, 2019).

Project planning was measured in terms of planning phase, planning effort, and quality of planning. Project performance was measured in terms of project efficiency (cost, time, and quality goals) and project success, that is, meeting wider business and enterprise goals (Sandesh, 2019).

The findings revealed that pressure exists in the project environment that tends to reduce time spent on project planning instead of increasing it. It was also reported that planning requirements differ from industry to industry. It was also established that in the construction industry, the level of planning completeness has a positive impact on the cost aspect of project success. Furthermore, the study found that in all the industries reviewed, planning has a positive impact on project performance in terms of project success and project efficiency. It was also reported managers who used agile projects registered achieved better project planning compared to those who used traditional approaches (Sandesh, 2019).

Project planning, project success, and project risk

The study explored the impact of project planning on project success in selected information technology (IT) firms of Pakistan. In particular, the following objectives were addressed: to determine the effect of project planning on project success in IT firms; to find out the effect of project risk on the relationship between project planning and project success in IT firms; and to explore the effect of organizational, people, project management, IT, economic, and stakeholder factors on the relationship between project planning and project success in IT firms (Khan et al., 2019).

The target population included IT project teams (software engineers, project team leaders, project coordinators, and project managers) in the target firms. Data collection was done using a questionnaire. 220 respondents were selected using simple random sampling to participate in the study. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze the descriptive variables in the study. Regression analysis was used to establish the relationship between the independent variables and the dependent variable. Moderation regression analysis was used to evaluate the role of the moderating variables in the relationship between the independent and dependent variables. The findings were presented in suitable tables as deemed fit (Khan et al., 2019).

The findings revealed that project planning had a positive and significant effect on project success in IT firms in Pakistan. It was also established that project risk factors had a positive and significant impact on the relationship between project planning and project success. The findings also demonstrated that project management, technology, economic, and stakeholder variables positively influenced the relationship between project planning and project success (Khan et al., 2019).

Influence of strategic planning process on project performance: a case of HIV & AIDS community project implemented by ACK Diocese of Mount Kenya West, Nyeri, Kenya

This study investigated the impact of strategic planning on the performance of church-initiated community projects in Kenya. Specifically, the study addressed the following objectives: to determine the impact of need analysis on the performance of church-initiated community projects; to establish the impact of objective-setting on the performance of church-initiated community projects; to find out the influence of resource allocation on the performance of church-initiated community projects; and to evaluate the effect of monitoring and evaluation on the performance of community projects (Muriithi, 2019).

The target population included the management team of the ACK Diocese of Mount Kenya West, church ministers concerned with project implementation, project staff, as well as volunteers. This brought the number of target participants to 84. A stratified sampling procedure was used to obtain 26 respondents to take part in the study. Questionnaires were used to collect primary data from the respondents. Secondary data was extracted from the following sources: project proposals, budget proposals, human resources documentation, project quarterly, bi-annual, and yearly reports, as well as monitoring and evaluation reports of the project. Data analysis was accomplished using descriptive statistics, including frequencies, percentages, mean, and standard deviation. Pearson correlation analysis was done to determine the associations among variables under study (Muriithi, 2019).

The findings indicated that needs analysis had a positive and significant impact on the performance measure of deliverables and a negative impact on performance measures of cost and level of satisfaction. It was also shown that community involvement had a positive and significant impact on the performance measures of deliverables, cost, and level of satisfaction. The results also showed that the source of information used to inform had a positive and significant impact on all performance measures, including deliverables, cost, and level of satisfaction (Muriithi, 2019).

The findings also revealed that objective-setting had a negative and insignificant impact on all the measures of project performance. Resource allocation was also shown to have a negative and insignificant impact on all measures of project performance. Monitoring and evaluation had a strong negative impact on project performance measures in the target projects (Muriithi, 2019).

Impact of project planning on project success with mediating role of risk management and moderating role of organizational culture.

This study explored the impact of project planning on project success in private organizations in Pakistan. In particular, the study sought to achieve the following objectives: to find out the relationship between project planning and project success; to determine the relationship between project risk management and project success; to establish the relationship between project planning and project risk management; to determine the impact of project risk management on the relationship between project planning and project success; to determine the mediating role of organizational culture on the relationship between project risk management and project success (Naeem et al., 2018).

The target population included private organizations situated in Pakistan. Questionnaires were used to collect data from 120 employees drawn from the target organizations. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze descriptive variables of the study. Regression analysis was used to establish the relationship between the variables under investigation. The findings were presented using relevant tables as required (Naeem et al., 2018).

Project planning was assessed using the model proposed by Dvir et al. (2003). Project risk management was evaluated using a model developed by Raz et al. (2002). Project organizational culture was measured using a model proposed by Gold et al. (2001). Project success was evaluated by a model proposed by Pinto and Prescott (1988) (Naeem et al., 2018).

The findings revealed that a positive and significant relationship existed between project planning and project risk management. Similarly, the results indicated a positive and significant relationship between project planning and project success. It was also reported that a positive and significant relationship existed between project planning and project success with project risk management playing the mediating role. The findings also indicated that organizational culture played no significant role in the relationship between project risk management and project success (Naeem et al., 2018).

Role of project management planning on project success in Kenya: a case of Kenya Power infrastructure development projects

The study explored the impact of project management planning on the performance of infrastructure development projects in Kenya Power Company, Kenya. In particular, the study examined the impact of project scope planning, cost planning, time planning, and quality planning on the project success of the target firm. The target population included project managers at Kenya Power Company. A census survey was used in this study due to the small number of participants available. Data collection was done using a questionnaire. Descriptive statistics (frequencies, percentages, mean, and standard deviation) and inferential analysis were used to analyze the collected data. The results were presented in relevant tables as required (Nzioka, 2017).

The findings of the correlation analysis revealed that project scope planning had a positive and significant impact on the success of infrastructure projects at Kenya Power Company. It was also shown that project cost planning had a positive and significant impact on the success of infrastructure projects. In addition, time planning was shown to have a positive and significant impact on the success of infrastructure projects. Again, the results showed that quality planning had a positive and significant impact on the success of infrastructure projects (Nzioka, 2017).

The results of the regression analysis indicated that scope planning, cost planning, time planning, and quality planning explained 48.1% of the variance in the performance of infrastructure projects. This means that scope planning, cost planning, quality planning, and time planning all positively influence the success of infrastructure projects in the target company (Nzioka, 2017).

Influence of strategic planning on project performance in Trans Nzoia County

This study explored the impact of strategic planning on the performance of agricultural projects in Trans Nzoia, Kenya. The target population included 7 agricultural projects in Trans Nzoia County. A random sampling technique was used to select a sample size of 110 staff from the 216 workers employed in the target projects. Data collection was done using a questionnaire. The collected data was analyzed using descriptive statistics (frequencies, percentages, and mean). Pearson correlation was used to determine associations between variables under study. Multiple regression analysis was used to establish the relationship between the independent variables and the dependent variable. The findings were presented in suitable tables as required (Soita et al., 2017).

The findings revealed that most projects planned their procurement plan in order to decide what to buy. The results also indicated that all stakeholders are involved in the procurement process. The findings also showed that most projects had a written annual operational plan with specific timelines for tasks and activities. It was also revealed that projects develop preliminary budgets and cost estimates and also conduct market research to know the way forward (Soita et al., 2017).

Results of the correlation analysis showed that strategic planning had a positive and significant impact on the performance of agricultural projects in Trans Nzoia. The results of the regression model showed that strategic planning explained 12.9% of the variance in the performance of agricultural projects in Trans Nzoia County. This means that a unit increase in strategic planning practices increases results into a unit increase in performance of projects in the target county (Soita et al., 2017).
